About Our Products

What kind of embellishments does Switzer Studios use?

We use only genuine Swarovski® crystals from Austria. While they are the most expensive, no other brand comes close to Swarovski’s quality, durability and brilliance. On some designs, metallic studs are also used.

What kind of guarantee do you offer?

Because we use Swarovski® crystals, Switzer Studios offers a Lifetime Stay-On Guarantee for the crystals used in our designs.

How do I care for apparel purchased at Switzer Studios?

They’re very easy to care for because all garments are machine washable. Simply turn them inside out, wash on a Delicate or Normal cycle and hang to dry. Please DO NOT dry clean. Some dry cleaners use very harsh chemicals which can affect the crystals’ adhesive and cause them to eventually come off. Dry cleaning voids the Lifetime Stay-On Guarantee.

What should I do if some of the crystals come off of an item purchased from Switzer Studios?

Simply contact us for a return authorization and then send your garment to:

Switzer Studios
1590 Sue Barnett Drive
Houston, TX 77018

We will inspect all of the crystals, replace the ones which are loose or missing free of charge and return the garment to you postage paid.

Will Switzer Studios put crystals on a garment that I provide?

Yes, on very rare occasions. The garment must be made of a suitable cotton or cotton/poly blend fabric. However, our Lifetime Stay-On Guarantee does not apply. Please contact us with your request.

Does Switzer Studios sell just the crystal transfers?

No, we do not.

I would like to have my logo done in crystals. How do I proceed?

Simply fill out the Submit Your Logo form found in our online shop. We will review it and send you a free quote right away.

On your website, I don’t see my breed of horse/riding discipline/garment, etc. What should I do?

At Switzer Studios, we welcome all requests. Just contact us with the details of what your want.

This may sound silly but can I order one of your garments WITHOUT any embellishment?

Yes, it happens all of the time. Just order the item you want from the Garments section in our online shop. By the way, most of our apparel comes in men’s sizes too.

I have a great idea for a crystal design! Would Switzer Studios be interested?

Certainly! Contact us with your idea.

I have special request. Would Switzer Studios be interested?

We always love a challenge! Contact us with your special request.

How do I best care for my Switzer Studios garment?

All Switzer Studios garments are very easy to care for because they are machine washable. Simply turn your garment inside out, wash on a Delicate or Normal cycle in cool water and then hang up to dry.

Please DO NOT dry clean. Some dry cleaners use very harsh chemicals which can affect the crystals’ adhesive and cause them to come off. Dry cleaning voids the Lifetime Stay-On Guarantee.

What makes Swarovski® crystals so special?

Swarovski Crystals are unmatched in quality and brilliance A tradition started in Austria over 100 years ago, Daniel Swarovski combined his love of crystal and passion for creative design. Today, Swarovski is the leading manufacturer of cut crystal and one of the most well known brands in the world.

The brilliance of Swarovski’s new copyright-protected XILION® crystal is its new and unique cut. It is the only crystal with 14 alternating facets of different sizes to produce perfect refraction and particularly intense light distribution.

The Xilion cut has a complex geometry which gives the impression of a crystal with a multi-layer cut, while perfectly matched faceting on crown and pavilion produce great depth, creating a sparkle worthy of fine gem stones.

The adhesive used by Swarovski is just as critical. The hotfix glue guarantees superior adhesion, ensuring the crystals remain firmly attached to our garments. This outstanding adhesive allows Switzer Studios to offer a Lifetime Stay-On Guarantee. We guarantee the crystals will stay on for the life of Switzer Studios apparel.

Are any garments omitted from the Lifetime Stay-On Guarantee?

Garments provided by customers to Switzer Studios to be embellished are not eligible for the Lifetime Stay-On Guarantee.

Is there anything that voids the Lifetime Stay-on Guarantee?

Dry cleaning voids the Lifetime Stay-On Guarantee.

Some dry cleaners use very harsh chemicals which can affect the crystals’ adhesive and cause them to come off. Even Swarovski®, who states that their adhesive can withstand dry cleaning, says so with reservations. Since you don’t know what chemicals will be used, don’t take the chance.

All About Pastels

What are Pastels?

Pastels do not refer to pale colors as the word is commonly used in cosmetic and fashion terminology. The name “pastel” comes from the French word pastische, meaning paste. Pastels are composed of a pure powdered pigment ground into a paste along with a small amount of gum binder. The infinite variety of colors in the Pastel palette range from soft and subtle to hard and brilliant.

Historically, Pastels can be traced back to the 16th century. Its invention is attributed to the German painter Johann Thiele. Thereafter, a galaxy of famous artists—among them Degas, Copley, Delacroix, Millet, Manet, Renoir, Toulouse Lautrec and Whistler—used Pastels for their finished works rather than for preliminary sketches.

Recently, Sotheby’s sold at auction a Degas pastel for $7,500,000! Created over 125 years ago, this painting is as fresh and alive today as the day it was painted.

How should I care for and frame a Pastel painting?

Pastel paintings are very resilient and will retain their brilliance for decades as long as they are properly protected. Displaying the painting framed under glass with archival-quality matting materials provides this necessary protection. As with all valuable paintings and photographs, your pastel painting should be hung in a location which avoids direct sunlight and extremes in heat or humidity.

One of the reasons pastel paintings are so beautiful is their color brilliance. Because the use of layers of fixatives dulls this brilliance, they are not used in the final stage of painting. Be aware that the surface is fragile and will smear if touched. Also, in the process of moving or shipping a painting, you may find a small amount of pastel dust has become dislodged from the surface of the painting. Do not worry — this is typical and in no way affects the quality of your painting nor its value.

What is the difference between a Limited Edition print and an Open Edition print?

Limited Edition Print – Signed and numbered by the artist. Printed in a limited number. Once they’re sold out, no more in that size will ever be produced.

Open Edition Print – Signed by the artist. Available in an unlimited number of prints. Once they’re sold out, more will be produced.
